Economics of Animal Health and Welfare


Nordic Association of Agricultural Scientists will organize a seminar onEconomics of Animal Health and Welfare.
 
The seminar will be held in Hämeenlinna, Finland on the 2nd and 3rd of October 2014.

The organizing committee invites all scientist working in this field to present their work at the seminar. All topics which are relevant to the economics of animal health and welfare are welcomed. The seminar can cover a broad range of topics from farm to fork, from individual farmers to consumers, and from local to global issues, the common nominator being economics applied to animal health or to animal welfare. Especially contributions in these themes are appreciated:

• Heterogeneity in stakeholders: Heterogeneity, for instance, in national policies, in consumer
preferences and perceptions, or in general beliefs, views and perspectives on animal health and welfare.
• Emerging issues in the economics of animal health and welfare: Submissions focusing on issues such as
economic drivers and economically important emerging threats of animal health and welfare, their impacts, regional and scale-related changes in production, or climate change.
• Drivers of economic choices and incentives for change: Issues such as international trade and standards, and incentives and disincentives for biosecurity and animal welfare, including compensation policies, insurance, contracting and asymmetric information.
