Prize Essay Competition 2012/13
2012 Winner (Award presented in 2013).
The winner of the 2012 competition was Marit Kragt for her essay entitled: 'Comparing stated and inferred attribute attendance models in environmental choice experiments'.
The essay will be published in the Journal of Agricultural Economics Vol 64, Issue 3 later in 2013.
The Agricultural Economics Society invites the submission of essays on the following conditions.
(a) In the year of submission, the author must be within six years of graduation (first graduation pr PhD) or, in the case of non-graduates, under 30 years old.
(b) The subject, chosen by the author, may deal with any aspect of agricultural economics. Essays should be presented in the style and length appropriate to a short paper (< 6,000 words) submitted for publication in the Journal of Agricultural Economics. (Notes on submission are contained on the inside back cover of each issue of the Journal)
(c) Essays must be accompanied by a declaration that they are solely the work of the author.Preference will be given to essays based upon the original work and experience of the author; where the work and experience of others is relied upon, full reference must be given.
(d) Anonymous entries should be submitted by 30 November 2012, and sent as an electronic attachment (pdf) with a covering letter containing the author's details, to the Secretary of the AES, c/o secretariat@aes.ac.uk with a copy to the Editor at: jae.editor@ncl.ac.uk.
(e) The prize will be awarded to an essay that is judged to be likely, after any revision that may be proposed by the Editorial Committee, to be suitable for publication in the Journal of Agricultural Economics.
(f) The External Editors will act as judges, with discretion to award prize money of £1,000. Their decision will be final.
