Apply for Membership

THE SOCIETY was founded in 1926. It is a learned society and a company limited by guarantee. It promotes the study and teaching of all disciplines relevant to the agricultural, food and related industries, and to rural society and environment. As set out in the Memorandum and Articles of Association these disciplines include economics, statistics, marketing, business management, politics, history and sociology.

ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION to the Society includes:

  • Either the Journal of Agricultural Economics an academic journal which is published (hard copy and electronic) three times a year.
  • Or EuroChoices a periodical that brings an economic perspective to European agri-food and rural resources issues. It provides clear, well written, easily understood analyses, is printed in full-colour and has a fresh, clean layout. Articles are aimed at a general audience but are written by leading research economists and those working at the highest level in policy formulation and determination.

Prices for membership are as follows:
Ordinary member - £48.00 (€56.16)
Student member - £24.00 (€28.08)
Retired member - £24.00 (€28.08)

For a supplement of £12.00 (€14.04) per annum members can elect to receive both the above-mentioned publications. (Those who do not make a selection will receive the Journal of Agricultural Economics).

  • Discounts when attending certain conferences and seminars sponsored by the Society
  • The News-Sheet which is distributed with each issue of the Journal. It gives information on forthcoming events and competitions such as the Prize Essay competition for younger members.
