The Society is very grateful to the David Blandford and Katharine Hassapoyannes Endowment Trust for ongoing support of the Prize Essay Award. After discussion with David Blandford and the AES Executive Committee it was felt that a number of changes might be made to the award, including tailoring it more towards the needs of today’s research and publishing environment. From these discussions, a number of changes have been introduced and the award has been retitled as ‘The Prize Article Award’.

•    The prize is worth £3,000
•    Up to £1,000 travel costs are available to attend and present the article at the annual Agricultural Economics Society conference
•    The competition is open to anyone who is within six years of registering for a PhD or under 35 if they have not registered for a PhD
•    The closing date for 2024 submissions is 30th November.
