The Bioeconomy Economics Conference 2026 focuses on the economic and social dimensions of the transition toward a sustainable and circular bioeconomy. This transition is reshaping economic systems, production structures, and policy landscapes worldwide, involving technological, institutional, ecological, and social innovations aimed at reducing dependence on fossil resources and promoting bio-based solutions.
While the bioeconomy offers opportunities for climate mitigation, rural development, and green industrialization, it also raises important questions related to inclusivity, governance, justice, and potential unintended consequences.
The conference aims to strengthen the international research community working on these topics. We welcome contributions from environmental, resource, agricultural, ecological, development, and behavioural economics, as well as interdisciplinary research on governance, innovation, and sustainability transitions. Submissions may address theoretical, empirical, experimental, modelling, or policy-oriented aspects of the bioeconomy.
Abstracts should be submitted by May 4th 2026 Abstract submission - University of Passau
